Sam Mendes Still Directing Bond 23

With the uncertainty surrounding MGM finally being settled many of the projects that had been delayed, such as The Hobbit and Bond 23, are finally starting to edge forward. Though they are separated Kate Winslet has confirmed that Sam Mendes is preparing to direct Bond 23. It had come into question whether he and star Daniel Craig would still be attached given the uncertainty surrounding the project over the last year.

“Sam is doing the next Bond film, all being well, and we’ll all be in England if that happens. It’s such a massive commitment for him and it’s not fair for him to commute backwards and forwards to New York from London. It would be impossible. The children will be there with me.”

Daniel Craig is still believed to be on as Bond despite contractual issues that may have arisen due to the delay. Production on the film is now expected to begin sometime in late 2011 with a release being targeted for holiday season 2012.
