After months of speculation and questions, we now have confirmation from Director Barry Sonnenfeld that Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith have signed on for the third ‘Men in Black’ film. Showbiz411.com has the story:

Director Barry Sonnenfeld tells me that “Men in Black 3-D” is ready to roll. Will Smith has signed on, Tommy Lee Jones is in, and a script is awaited.

Yes. I did say 3D. “Men in Black 3″ will be in 3D. Sonnenfeld says it is so. Why not? Everything else is, and this is one movie that might be cool in the process.

This is great news for the movie. With Smith and Jones signed on, this film will surely do well from a financial standpoint. The ‘Men in Black’ franchise has made $1.1 billion worldwide. I had previously mentioned that I didn’t think a sequel without the two would do well. Tropic Thunder writer Etan Cohen will handle the script for the sci-fi comedy. Shooting is expected to start some time this year.
